I’m going to talk you through a step by step account of a recent free poker tournament I played in. My intention is making you think and question future plays of certain scenarios.

The game was ten of thirty one paid- decent odds of three to one so my decision is to play smooth and take a back seat as the games commences. A few of the cards I used at the start were fifty two suited in the small blind & K9 off with six to one pot odds. AJ off I fall pitiless- the odds are purely the difference between the cost to call to the size of the pot e.g. one hundred dollars to see six hundred dollars would be six to one.

Limit hold-em is one of the easier of the poker games to understand and for this reason is very popular especially with the free poker sites. Its not that the rules differ to those of other poker games it’s simply the process of placing bets is different. The maximum value is identical to the big blind and you can’t place a wager in excess of that maximum value- therefore the only way to get this elevated is to check in the 1st round of gambling in early positions and gamble in the later positions. I never thought I had a chance of winning much being such a novice to the free online poker world. However, just over seven days since my last blog I already feel like my experiences have made me a better poker player. In a word my biggest weapon is patience. It seems bizarre to me the amount of opponents who go all in on their 1st hand and go down.

This obviously sends all but one player to an early grave. My recommendations are to stay safe until the final table, which I like to play more aggressively. I fold folded a lot of good hands early in the game and never regretted it because whatever happened I was still in the game.
