Roulette Terminoligy
Most games have their own dialect, roulette is no different. Knowing the terms is essential to being able to communicate is any roulette setting. Here are the important terms when it comes to betting.
Outside bets and inside bets each have their own slang, here is some slang for some of the most common outside bets. Most outside bets give a near 50% chance of winning, like the “high” or “low” bets, they indicate whether you are betting on numbers 1-18 or 19-36.
More bets that offer near 50% odds are “black” or “red”, betting “black” meaning that the ball will rest on a black slot, and “red” that the ball will rest on a red slot. The final 50/50 bets are the bets “odd” as well as “even”, with “odd” you win if the ball lands on an odd number and with “even” you win if the ball lands on an even number.
The slang for many inside bets aren’t as simple and straight forward as the names of outside bets are.” “Single” means that you are betting on a single number, if you are trying to make a single bet on the number six you would say “single six”. Betting on a single number are sometimes called “straight bets”. The next betting term has two names it is known as a “square” or a “quarter”, it is a bet that pays out if you are betting on four adjoining numbers such as “28,32,11, and 30.” If you want to bet on something a little riskier than you can always bet on just two numbers that are next to each other, this is called the “split bet”
These are some of the more commons bets of each type, however there are some terms that have nothing to do with the type of bet being made.
